What are Delivery Slots?

Inboxes are like long to-do lists where someone else can put stuff for you. It means dealing with incoming email at the sender's schedule and not yours. That's unfair.

Mailman gives you tools to set a delivery schedule that best matches your daily routine. Let's go more in-depth in the possibilities.

Option 1: Hours of interval

The first and default option is to get emails throughout the day at an equal interval of hours. By default, Mailman delivers your emails every 4 hours throughout the day.

There's an option to choose interval duration from 2-hour to 12-hour.

Option 2: Number of times

Another option is to tell Mailman how many times you want to deal with your incoming emails. Mailman will deliver your emails that many times in the day at equal intervals.

For example, Mailman can deliver your email three times a day at equal intervals.

Option 3: Custom schedule

The most popular choice of our users is to use a custom schedule with three or four delivery slots in a day.

The most used configuration is to set a custom schedule with the following three times:

07:30 am: first thing in the morning to see if there are any important emails that came in since yesterday that requires immediate action

01:30 pm: right after the lunch to act on the important emails before getting engrossed in the deep-work

04:00 pm: towards the end of the day to wrap up any pending emails that deserve your attention

⭐️ **Pro Tip:** Adjust the hours according to your own daily schedule. The above hours are used to communicate the idea of keeping separate time slots in your day to tackle your inbox.

Do Not Disturb

If you choose to go with either Option 1 or Option 2, it's advisable to add a Do-Not-Disturb period to your schedule. Any delivery slot falling in the Do-Not-Disturb period will be ignored automatically.

It's not necessary to add a Do-Not-Disturb period if you're choosing a custom delivery schedule with specific hours (option 3 above).
